How Texas Founded Short History !

Texas (/ˈtɛksəs/, locally /ˈtɛksəz/; Spanish: Texas or Tejas, pronounced [ˈtexas]) is the second-largest state in the United States by both area and population. Geographically located in the South Central region of the country, Texas shares borders with the U.S. states of Louisiana to the east, Arkansas to the northeast, Oklahoma to the north, New Mexico to the west, and the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas to the southwest, while the Gulf of Mexico is to the southeast.

Houston is the most populous city in Texas and the fourth largest in the U.S., while San Antonio is the second-most populous in the state and seventh largest in the U.S. Dallas–Fort Worth and Greater Houston are the fourth and fifth largest metropolitan statistical areas in the country, respectively. Other major cities include Austin, the second-most populous state capital in the U.S., and El Paso. Texas is nicknamed “The Lone Star State” to signify its former status as an independent republic, and as a reminder of the state’s struggle for independence from Mexico. The “Lone Star” can be found on the Texas state flag and on the Texan state seal.[9] The origin of Texas’s name is from the word “Tejas,” which means “friends” in the Caddo language.[10]

Due to its size and geologic features such as the Balcones Fault, Texas contains diverse landscapes that resemble both the U.S. Southern and Southwestern regions.[11] Although Texas is popularly associated with the U.S. southwestern deserts, less than 10% of Texas’ land area is desert.[12] Most of the population centers are located in areas of former prairiesgrasslandsforests, and the coastline. Traveling from east to west, one can observe terrain that ranges from coastal swamps and piney woods, to rolling plains and rugged hills, and finally the desert and mountains of the Big Bend.

The term “six flags over Texas[note 1] refers to several nations that have ruled over the territory. Spain was the first European country to claim the area of Texas. France held a short-lived colony. Mexico controlled the territory until 1836 when Texas won its independence, becoming an independent Republic. In 1845,[13]annexation set off a chain of events that led to the Mexican–American War in 1846. A slave state before the American Civil War, Texas declared its secession from the U.S. in early 1861, and officially joined the Confederate States of America on March 2 of the same year. After the Civil War and the restoration of its representation in the federal government, Texas entered a long period of economic stagnation.

Historically four major industries shaped the Texas economy prior to World War II: cattle and bison, cotton, timber, and oil.[14] Before and after the U.S. Civil War the cattle industry, which Texas came to dominate, was a major economic driver for the state, thus creating the traditional image of the Texas cowboy. In the later 19th century cotton and lumber grew to be major industries as the cattle industry became less lucrative. It was ultimately, though, the discovery of major petroleum deposits (Spindletop in particular) that initiated an economic boom which became the driving force behind the economy for much of the 20th century. With strong investments in universities, Texas developed a diversified economyand high tech industry in the mid-20th century. As of 2015, it is second on the list of the most Fortune 500 companies with 54.[15] With a growing base of industry, the state leads in many industries, including agriculture, petrochemicalsenergycomputers and electronicsaerospace, and biomedical sciences. Texas has led the nation in state export revenue since 2002, and has the second-highest gross state product. If it were a country, Texas would be the 10th largest economy in the world.

The History of Christmas in America From 1800’s

In the first half of the 19th century, Christmas was a very different kind of holiday than it is today. People did not have a set way of celebrating. Christmas was not even an official holiday yet.

So, communities around the country honored the day in different ways. Some observed Christmas as an important Christian religious day, honoring the birth of Jesus. Others celebrated the day with parties, music, drinking and eating. And, some communities did not celebrate the day at all.

But, it was during the early 1800s that Americans began to reinvent the holiday. They started combining ancient Christmas traditions with modern American influences. Shirley Griffith and Steve Ember tell the story.

In 1819, the popular American writer Washington Irving wrote a series of five essays published in a book called “The Sketchbook of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent.”

The essays describe a wealthy British landowner who invites his farm workers into his home to celebrate Christmas. The landowner recreates a traditional Christmas as it would have been celebrated in the distant past.

Irving praised this looking back to ancient traditions. He liked the idea of different levels of society coming together to enjoy a festive and peaceful holiday. Washington Irving seemed to express concern about the lack of such unifying Christmas traditions in modern America.

Penne Restad wrote a book “Christmas in America: A History.” It shows how Americans began to slowly shape Christmas into a unifying national holiday during the first half of the 19th century. She describes how Christmas had different meanings for Americans who came from different cultural and religious backgrounds. Many immigrants brought Christmas traditions from their own countries.

Religion played a big role in how an American might celebrate the holiday. Calvinist Christians banned the celebration of Christmas. But groups such as Episcopalians and Moravians honored the day with religious services and seasonal decorations.

By mid-century, Christian groups began to ignore their religious differences over the meaning of Christmas and honored the day in special ways.

Christmas became an important time for families to celebrate at home. More and more Christian Americans also began to follow the European traditions of Christmas trees and giving gifts. Christians believed that the tree represented Jesus and was also a sign of new beginnings. German immigrants brought their tradition of putting lights, sweets and toys on the branches of evergreen trees placed in their homes.

This tradition of setting up a Christmas tree soon spread to many American homes. So did the practice of giving people presents. As these traditions increased in popularity, the modern trade and business linked to Christmas also grew.

As Christmas became more popular, some states declared the day a state holiday. Louisiana was the first state to make the move in 1837. By 1860, 14 other states had followed. It was not until 1870 that President Ulysses Grant made Christmas a federal holiday.

Americans already knew old Christmas songs that came from England and other areas of Europe. But many new American Christmas songs started to become popular. For example, in 1849, a religious leader from Massachusetts wrote the words to “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear.” The song “Jingle Bells” appeared seven years later. And, a year later, a religious leader in Williamsport, Pennsylvania wrote the song “We Three Kings of Orient Are.”Image result for christmas american 1800s

And of course, no discussion of Christmas would be complete without talking about of one of the holiday’s most famous representations: Santa Claus.

This character is based on the story of Saint Nicholas, a Christian holy person believed to have lived in the third century. Saint Nicholas became known as a protector of children. In his role as a Christmas hero, different cultures have given him different names. These include Sinterklaas, Kris Kringle and Father Christmas. But for most Americans his most popular name would become Santa Claus.

In the 19th century, many Dutch immigrants living in the United States celebrated the feast of Saint Nicholas on December 6. Saint Nicholas was especially important to New Yorkers because of their history as a Dutch colony.

In 1809, Washington Irving published his “History of New York.” It lists Saint Nicholas as the patron saint of New Yorkers. He describes the saint wearing a low hat, large pants, and smoking a pipe. Does this description sound familiar?

Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Short History

Harley-Davidson is the iconic American motorcycle manufacturer. Founded out of a small shed in 1903 by William S. Harley and brothers Arthur and Walter Davidson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Motor Company produces traditional cruiser motorcycles utilizing air-cooled V-Twin engines.

When Harley and Davidson produced and sold their first motorcycle in 1903, they were one of many small motorcycle marques springing up across the country. Flash forward more than a century and the Harley-Davidson brand is so rooted in American culture that the history of the company intertwines with the history of America itself.

Harley-Davidson incorporated in 1907, with William Davidson officially joining forces with his two brothers and Harley. Setting down roots in Milwaukee, Harley-Davidson began hiring employees and by the end of the decade were producing bikes using its signature 45-degree air-cooled V-Twin.

During the next decade H-D continued to expand. Many sales were generated by Uncle Sam, with the American military sourcing Harley motorcycles during the First World War.Image result for harley davidson 90s history

Harley-Davidson has also been working hard to improve the riding quality of its touring bikes. In 2009, it did away with the stamped and welded single-piece frame that anchored Harley touring motorcycles for the last 30 years and replaced it with a cast, single-spar, rigid-backbone frame. It also went with a wider, longer swingarm. H-D also introduced a new three-wheel motorcycle called the Tri Glide that has the classic styling and popular touring features of its best-selling Ultra Classic Electra Glide.

The Bar and Shield continued to grow and by the early ‘30s, its only surviving domestic rival was Indian. Again H-D expanded in peacetime and found itself producing high quantities of bikes for the American military during World War II. Harley-Davidson press material cites its wartime motorcycle production at 90,000 units.

The ‘80s and ‘90s saw the introduction of model families that continue to this day, like the Softail, FLT and Road King lines, joining classic models like the Electra Glide. In the ‘90s Harley-Davidson also solidified its hold over Buell motorcycles, taking a controlling stake in the American sportbike/street bike manufacturer and selling Buell motorcycles at many H-D dealers.

Harley-Davidson has also been working hard to improve the riding quality of its touring bikes. In 2009, it did away with the stamped and welded single-piece frame that anchored Harley touring motorcycles for the last 30 years and replaced it with a cast, single-spar, rigid-backbone frame. North Carolina Just Made Drug Testing MANDATORY For ALL Welfare Recipients – Results Are FAR WORSE Than Anyone Expected!

There’s a growing culture within American society that apparently believes that government should be financially responsible for the well-being of individuals receiving government entitlements, even if they’re willfully irresponsible.

However in North Carolina that progressive culture hasn’t yet reached lawmakers, where welfare applicants are required to take a drug screening test, in order to qualify for benefits.

And as suspected the results was eye-opening, in that approximately ¼ of all the applicants tested positive for drug use, or more precisely 21 out of 89 individuals tested positively for drugs and will no longer receive benefits.

Moreover those that test positive are required to pay back the state the $55 dollar testing fee, which actually acts a deterrent for those using drugs, in that over 70-applicants who were slated to take the drug test, never bothered to show up.

The drug testing is actually a part of a much wider program, designed to help low-income families into accessing paying jobs called “The Works First” program, however receiving government benefits should be predicated on one’s ability to work, and at the very minimum each state should require every childless and able-bodied individual to work for their benefits, at a state and or municipal job-site, at least a few hours a week.

Would you like every state to make drug testing mandatory in order to receive entitlement benefits?

Let us know how you feel about this being the law of the land in the comments below.

More And More Bad News For Clinton Family!

More and more bad news for Clinton family! They are going down faster than a failed airplane! Trump defeat ruined then completely!

First Hillary lost badly, than Bill had to close his foundation, so Chelsea lost her job there, now her husband lost his job, his company went bankrupt!

Eaglevale Partners, the hedge fund co-founded by Marc Mezvinsky, the son-in-law of Hillary and Bill Clinton, closed in December, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. Eaglevale, based in New York, is in the process of returning money to clients, said the person who asked not to be named because the firm is private.

Eaglevale was started by former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. traders Bennett Grau, Mark Mallon and Mezvinsky in 2011. They had previously worked together on the bank’s global macro proprietary-trading desk. A spokesman for Eaglevale declined to comment on the news, which was reported earlier by Hedge Fund Alert.

And this is just the beginning! They are going to pay for all of their greediness, all thee treasons, crimes, corruption!

They are not going to profit from selling America to our enemies! They are not going to make huge amount of money by using their power and their connections and lobby provisions!

Now they are going to have to live much lower class style, they are going to live as ordinary Americans in small houses driving smaller cars, spending less money on travel and fancy food and clothes.

They are lazy, evil, bad people, they were robbing the American people for decades, they were laying and manipulating and stealing all their life.

Trump Just Used His Presidential Power to Declare a “National Emergency” Right Before The Christmas

Just when people thought Trump was done shaking things up after a historic two weeks, he’s going into the Christmas weekend after declaring a national emergency for the United States.

President Trump just signed a new Executive Order, then wrote a special letter to Congress detailing why he declared the national emergency.

The president writes:

I hereby report that I have issued the enclosed Executive Order (the “order”) declaring a national emergency with respect to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States posed by serious human rights abuse and corruption around the world.

In the order itself, he outlines why he’s issuing such an important order:

I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that the prevalence and severity of human rights abuse and corruption that have their source, in whole or in substantial part, outside the United States, such as those committed or directed by persons listed in the Annex to this order, have reached such scope and gravity that they threaten the stability of international political and economic systems. Human rights abuse and corruption undermine the values that form an essential foundation of stable, secure, and functioning societies; have devastating impacts on individuals; weaken democratic institutions; degrade the rule of law; perpetuate violent conflicts; facilitate the activities of dangerous persons; and undermine economic markets. The United States seeks to impose tangible and significant consequences on those who commit serious human rights abuse or engage in corruption, as well as to protect the financial system of the United States from abuse by these same persons.I therefore determine that serious human rights abuse and corruption around the world constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States, and I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.

President Trump is giving law enforcement, and any U.S. person who comes into contact with the property or interests of the individuals he lists in the Annex, to block and prevent the transfer of the property or interests:

I hereby determine and order:

Section 1. (a) All property and interests in property that are in the United States, that hereafter come within the United States, or that are or hereafter come within the possession or control of any United States person of the following persons are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in:

His letter to Congress explains the order in a more simple manner:

The order blocks the property and interests in property of persons listed in the Annex to the order. It also blocks the property and interests in property of any foreign person determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Attorney General:

The main two points being:

(1) to be responsible for or complicit in, or to have directly or indirectly engaged in, serious human rights abuse;

(2) to be a current or former government official, or a person acting for or on behalf of such an official, who is responsible for or complicit in, or has directly or indirectly engaged in:

(a) corruption, including the misappropriation of state assets, the expropriation of private assets for personal gain, corruption related to government contracts or the extraction of natural resources, or bribery; or

(b) the transfer or the facilitation of the transfer of the proceeds of corruption;

He then empowers the secretary of the Treasury to carry out and enforce the order:

I have delegated to the Secretary of the Treasury the authority, in consultation with the Secretary of State, to take such actions, including adopting rules and regulations, and to employ all powers granted to the President by IEEPA and the Act, as may be necessary to implement the order and relevant provisions of the Act. I have delegated to the Secretary of State the authority to take such actions, including adopting rules and regulations, and to employ all powers granted to the President by IEEPA and the Act, as may be necessary to implement the provisions of the order and the Act suspending entry into the United States of certain aliens. All executive departments and agencies are directed to take all appropriate measures within their authority to implement the order.

The persons that he is directing the order against are:

1. Mukhtar Hamid Shah; Date of Birth (DOB) August 11, 1939; alt. DOB November 8, 1939; nationality, Pakistan

2. Angel Rondon Rijo; DOB July 16, 1950; nationality, Dominican Republic

3. Dan Gertler; DOB December 23, 1973; nationality, Israel; alt. nationality, Democratic Republic of the Congo

4. Maung Maung Soe; DOB March 1964; nationality, Burma

5. Yahya Jammeh; DOB May 25, 1965; nationality, The Gambia

6. Sergey Kusiuk; DOB December 1, 1966; nationality, Ukraine; alt. nationality, Russia

7. Benjamin Bol Mel; DOB January 3, 1978; alt. DOB December 24, 1978; nationality, South Sudan; alt. nationality, Sudan

8. Julio Antonio Juárez Ramírez; DOB December 1, 1980; nationality, Guatemala

9. Goulnora Islamovna Karimova; DOB July 8, 1972; nationality, Uzbekistan

10. Slobodan Tesic; DOB December 21, 1958; nationality, Serbia

11. Artem Yuryevich Chayka; DOB September 25, 1975; nationality, Russia

12. Gao Yan; DOB April 1963; nationality, China

13. Roberto Jose Rivas Reyes; DOB July 6, 1954; nationality, Nicaragua

President Trump really means business when it comes to protecting human rights and ending their abuses.

Reckless cops just opened fire in a crowded trailer park and murdered a six-year-old child

Trigger-happy law enforcement agents have needlessly killed yet another child of color in their carelessness.

Six-year-old Kameron Prescott was in his mobile home in Bexar County, Texas, with his family, minding his own business when a police bullet tore through the thin walls and killed him while his horrified parents watched.

The police were in pursuit of a woman, a wanted felon who was suspected of being involved in a car theft. She had been attempting to seek shelter in different trailers from the police and was eventually gunned down, even though stealing cars does not carry the death penalty.Related image

The police are now saying that the woman “showed a gun” and was “reaching for her waistband” earlier during the chase but was found to be unarmed after they murdered her too.

The San Antonio Express-News reports that it is “not known” whatprompted five deputies to open fire with four pistols and one rifle on an unarmed woman in a trailer park obviously full of innocent bystanders.

According to the Washington Post, Prescott is the 958th person to be murdered by police officers this year – or the 1152nd, according to

The police force refused to say whether or not official policy allows officers to use force if a family home is in the line of fire – which means yes, it does.

The excesses of American law enforcement take a horrifying toll on the American people. The militarization of our police forces combined with the reckless proliferation of firearms among an irresponsible civilian populace has led to those who have ostensibly sworn to “protect and serve” to behave like an occupying army, spreading violence and death instead of keeping the peace.

It remains to be seen if there will be any consequences for the officers who decided to start spraying bullets in a residential area and murdering a child, but seeing as a police officer was just acquitted of murdering a man who was on his knees and begging for mercy, we wouldn’t hold our breath.

Comey just took a major swipe at Trump in a late night tweet

When news broke tonight of FBI General Counsel James Baker being reassigned to a new position after Republicans smeared his reputation, gasps of alarm went up across Washington, D.C.

The response of even the most sober observers was that the maneuver was yet another political retaliation by Republicans against a high FBI official who can corroborate fired FBI director James Comey’s June testimonyagainst the president.Image result for Comey just took a major swipe at Trump in a late night tweet

In fact, Comey himself weighed in tonight on Twitter with a candid assessment of the Stalin-esque political tactic.

The political hit job against Baker tonight had two steps.

1.) House Intelligence Republicans, headed by Trump-Russia lackey Rep. Devin Nunes of California, leaked to Politico that Baker had spoken to David Corn, the Mother Jones reporter who first broke the Russian dossier story, in which British intelligence expert Christopher Steele unearthed salacious details linking Trump and his inner circle to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Not an iota of the dossier has yet been disproven — in fact most of it has already been borne out as fact.

2.) Trump-appointed FBI director Christopher A. Wray reassigned Baker to an undisclosed new role, effectively defanging his powers within the bureau and allowing Republicans to cast aspersions that his demotion stems from “bias” in the dossier investigation, which it in no way does.

Corn has stated explicitly that Baker was not his source for the dossier story.

He could simply have been offering procedural insight about the FBI, a very standard thing for a member of FBI leadership to do with investigative members America’s free press.

The background to all of this intrigue stems from the fact that President Trump appointed Wray as FBI director after firing James Comey for not quashing the investigation into now-convicted former national security advisor Mike Flynn.

Comey later testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee that Trump asked him to pledge his total loyalty to him and drop the Flynn investigation.

Comey kept copious notes of his interactions with the president and shared his experiences with a number of unnamed top FBI officials.

In their witch hunt to discredit the FBI and Special Prosecutor Mueller’s accelerating investigation into Trump-Russia collusion and obstruction of justice, the House Intelligence Committee called deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe to testify this week.

Instead of proving Republican accusations of political bias in favor of Hillary Clinton — whose political chances Comey had in fact ended — McCabe demolished their whole line of inquiry by corroborating that his former boss had informed him of Trump’s unethical requests at the time.

Some argue that whenever a new FBI director takes over the bureau, he appoints a new counsel and Baker’s transfer is therefore standard.

However, as Comey’s tweet reflects, there is nothing normal about Donald Trump and his Russia-backed Republicans.

They know Mueller, armed with truckloads of FBI evidence, is zeroing in on the big fish.

Cornered, they will unload the dirtiest of tactics to try to wriggle out of the dire consequences toward which they are inexorably hurtling.

But Comey — and all the rest of us — are watching closely.  The more they try to cover up the truth, the guiltier they become.

Trump just begged his fans to tell him he’s better than Obama

They have to think that the people whom they are targeting are really, incredibly, unbelievably stupid, so much so that it’s actually incredibly insulting.

The “they” in this case is the Trump Make America Great Again Committee who have obviously never taken any courses in statistically-significant survey design at any institution of higher learning.

How else could one explain the “Inaugural Year Approval Poll’ that the committee, a Republican National Committee fund-raising arm, sent out today?

The poll consists of just three questions, but one look at the first two questions — and the multiple choice answers available to respond with — gives you the sense that they don’t really care about getting an accurate picture of public reaction to Trump’s first year occupying the White House.

“How would you rate President Trump’s first year in office”:

“How would you rate President Trump’s First year in Office” :
Let’s play a little game. Let’s show the two questions and their respective potential answers and see if you can spot the differences.

What word truly describes President Trump’s first term in office, and, coincidentally, describes the design of these phony surveys issued by the people already raising money for his second term as president?

  1. Atrocious
  2. Abysmal
  3. Disastrous
  4. Soul-destroying
  5. Sickening
  6. All of the above and more

The Trump Make America Great Again Committee doesn’t really care what you think about Trump’s performance in office. They just want to take money from the fools who still support the Con-Man-der-In-Chief because it’s easier to get money from people who are wildly disconnected with reality than with people actually paying attention to what’s going on.

Nothing like a nice, unbiased leading question! We’re sure the news media is fairly covering the minuscule approval ratings from polls designed by people other than the propaganda hacks that designed this one and that they’d appropriately laugh if asked to publish the results from this one.

Barack Hussein Obama Just Threatened to Take the Presidency Away From Donald Trump

it will come as little surprise to conservatives that Barack Hussein Obama doesn’t seem to understand how American democracy works.

One of the key aspects of being president is the right to form, present and enforce policy, usually through a congressional process, but via executive order, if necessary.

Obama knows that all too well. He issued numerous executive orders against the will of the people and the Constitution when he was in office.

But now, Obama’s trying to interfere in Trump’s right to make decisions and enforce policy. He might as well be going after the presidency itself.

Former President Barack Obama plans to speak out if President Donald Trump declares his intention to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, according to a person close to Obama.

Trump is expected to announce on Tuesday that in six months, he will terminate the Obama-era DACA initiative, which grants two-year work permits to undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and stayed out of trouble. POLITICO first reported the news.

Obama used executive actions to launch the program in June 2012, providing assurances before his re-election that he would protect the so-called “Dreamers.” Trump had suggested in the past that he didn’t want to deport Dreamers, saying in April that they should “rest easy,” but the immigration hawks in his administration have argued that DACA is an illegal program.

Obama’s current plan is to post a statement on Facebook and link to it on Twitter, where the former president has more than 94 million followers. In his final presidential press availability, he suggested that he would speak out if Trump went after the Dreamers — and that it was one of the few issues where he would feel morally compelled to do so. He said he would not remain silent in the face of “efforts to round up kids who have grown up here and for all practical purposes are American kids, and send them someplace else, when they love this country.”

This is blatant interference in the policy decisions of a man that the American people put in the White House. As such, it is an assault on the American voter.
